The EFTS (Electronic Fund Transfer System) is a national payment system initiated by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) and managed by the Benefit Company.
The objective of the system is to route all local transfers between banks through a centralized electronic hub to expedite transfers.
The services provided by this system are:
Near Real Time Transfer (NRT): this service will allow local transfers using the IBAN of the beneficiary account within 30 seconds; and is accessible through 3 channels: Branches and Financial Malls, Internet Banking, and Mobile Banking.
The number of Fawri+ transactions per day are unlimited, however, the total daily value should not exceed BD1,000.
Transactions less than BD100 are free of any charge and transactions that range from BD100 to BD1,000 will be charged at BD0.100.
Deferred Net Settlement (DNS): this service will allow local transfers using the IBAN of the beneficiary account. Both the transfer amount and the daily limit of transfers using this service are open; this includes standing orders of customers to other banks in Bahrain.
These transactions are processed in batches, on two clearing sessions, at 10:00 A.M and 2:30 P.M every day.
The charges of these transfers are similar to the Fawri+ service; BD0.1 for transactions above BD100 and free of any charges for lower transactions.
Note: beneficiary set up is required to obtain these services.
Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP): is a service supported by the Electronic Fund Transfer System (EFTS), that was introduced by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), that allows customers from inquiring about their telephone, electricity, or any other bill at BisB branches and Financial Malls.
